Arizona is looser than hyper-selective flagships on raw test scores and EC breadth, but stricter on demonstrated major fit and practical preparation for hands-on programs.
Treat the why-UArizona prompt as a chance to cite concrete resources: the Steward Observatory, the Optical Sciences Center, BIO5 Institute, specific faculty, UA Health Network clinical opportunities, or field stations in southern Arizona, and explain how you will use them in a semester or research plan. Reject vague praise of "location" or "sunshine"; instead map one or two UA facilities, labs, or Tucson partnerships to a past project or a clear next-step plan and mention any connections you already have (professor emails, campus visits, program acceptances).
