What University of Chicago weights most
Quirky intellectualism. The supplemental essay prompts are famously weird (e.g. 'find x'). Take them seriously and play along.
Supplemental essay strategy
Pick one of the weird prompts. Write something that could only have come from your brain. UChicago is allergic to 5-paragraph-essay format.

Where to focus next
If you only have time for one thing this month, do this:
- Read 2 admitted-student essays from University of Chicago (search official admissions site or Reddit r/uchicago). Notice the level of specificity — that's the bar.
- Write the ‘why this school’ supplement first, before anything else. If you can't fill 250 words with school-specific reasons, pick a different school.
- Find one current student to ask about their experience — admissions offices often connect prospective applicants with current students. The follow-up email becomes specific essay material.
